Privacy policy

Short version: your recordings, projects, captions and files never leave your Mac. We keep what we need to sell and activate a licence. The app also sends anonymous usage data and crash reports. Both are on by default, and you can switch each off in Settings › General.

The app

Your recordings

Recording, transcription (Apple's speech recognition on your Mac), editing and export all happen on your Mac. The app has no upload or share feature. We never receive your screen, camera, microphone, audio, captions or project files.

Licence activation

When you activate a licence, the app sends the licence key, a random device identifier created on your Mac, a device label you can change, the app version and the macOS version. We keep these to enforce one Mac per licence and to let you move it. They are kept while the licence exists.

Usage data (on by default; you can switch it off)

Anonymous usage data is on when you first install Slyve Studio. To stop it, switch off Usage data in Settings › General; nothing more is sent, and the app deletes its unsent events and its install identifier. While it is on, the app sends about once a day: a random install identifier (a new one if you switch it off and on again), the app and macOS version, the Mac model family (such as "MacBookPro18"), the processor type, whether you have a trial, a licence or neither, and counts of events such as "recording made" or "export finished" with rounded durations. Never your recordings, file or project names, captions, e-mail, licence key or IP address. Raw events are deleted after 90 days; only daily totals are kept longer.

Crash reports (on by default; you can switch them off)

If Slyve Studio quits unexpectedly, the next time it opens it sends a crash report: the error message and where in the app it happened (names of functions in the app's code), the app and macOS version, and your Mac's chip, memory, free disk space and displays. Your user name and file paths are removed on your Mac before it is sent. It carries the usage data install identifier only while usage data is on. It never contains your recordings, projects or files. To stop automatic crash reports, switch off Crash reports in Settings › General; after a crash the app then asks before sending anything.

Bug reports

A bug report is sent only when you press Send, and you see what it contains first; logs are redacted on your Mac before they are attached. Attached files are deleted after 180 days.

The website

slyve.studio sets no cookies. When site metrics are on, your browser sends the page path, the domain of the site that linked to us, and a "download" or "buy" click. Our server adds the country from the network edge and does not store your IP address. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is sent. Payments

Purchases are made through Polar, which acts as the merchant of record: it processes your payment, collects tax and sends the receipt under its own privacy policy. We receive your e-mail address, country, the order and the licence key, and keep them for as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Where data is stored

Licence, device and usage data are stored with Supabase [Owner: region, D-R7]. The website is served by Cloudflare. We do not sell or share data with advertisers.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion, by writing to support@slyve.studio. [Owner: applicable law, e.g. GDPR / UK GDPR, and a supervisory authority if needed.]

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new date.
