Slyve Studio Beta

Copy text from your screen (Text)

Select any part of the screen and copy the words in it, or read a QR code. It all happens on your Mac.

Slyve can read the text in anything on your screen, even text you cannot select, like a video or an image. The reading happens on your Mac.

Copy text from the screen

  1. Press ⌥⇧T, or open the capture bar, choose Screenshot, then turn on Text. Click Text again to go back to a plain screenshot.
  2. Drag over the text, or click a window. Slyve reads it as soon as you let go: there is no button to press.
  3. Slyve copies its text and shows Copied. Paste it anywhere.

No project is made.

Read a QR code

Press ⌥⇧Q and select the code. Slyve copies what it holds.

Text in a screenshot

On the card after a screenshot, click the Copy text icon in its row, or press ⇧⌘C while the pointer is on the card. The icon spins while Slyve reads the picture. In the screenshot editor, press ⇧⌘C to copy all the text in the picture. Slyve also finds links and QR codes in the picture and offers them to copy.

Keep the layout

In the screenshot editor, Copy text keeps table columns as tabs, indents in code, nested list markers and blank lines between sections. Choose Copy as one paragraph when you want flowing text instead. It also reads columns and cards in order. Text recognition stays on your Mac.

Small or dim text

Text recognition is one of the add-ons every Mac gets after install, and it reads small and dim text well. See Add-ons.
