Slyve Studio Beta

Troubleshooting

Fixes for the common problems, from permissions and empty keys to full disks, exports and updates.

Screen Recording says Allowed, but nothing records

  1. Quit Slyve and open it again from Finder or the Dock, not from a terminal.
  2. In System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen & System Audio Recording, select Slyve Studio, press −, then add it again with +.
  3. Choose Restart app when Slyve asks.

macOS never asked for the microphone or camera

The question may be behind other windows. Look for it and choose Allow. If nothing appears, quit Slyve and open it from Finder.

No automatic zooms, keys or click effects

These need the Accessibility permission. See Permissions. If keys are still empty, an app with secure keyboard entry (such as Terminal or a password manager) may be hiding them. The recorder tells you which.

“Disk almost full”

Slyve checks free space while you record. Under 2 GB left, the recording controls warn you. Under 0.5 GB, Slyve finishes the take and keeps it. Free some space and record again.

Recording pauses or looks black

If your Mac is about to sleep or the lid closes without an external display, the take pauses and waits for you to resume. If the controls say a video app blocks recording, switch away from protected video. A silent or unplugged microphone also appears on the controls. See Record your screen.

Captions are waiting

Captions need the English captions add-on. If it is still downloading, Slyve waits for it and says so. See Add-ons.

An export will not save

Slyve may no longer have access to the folder. In the Export sheet, choose Change destination and pick the folder again.

Your assistant cannot connect

  • Check Settings › Lumi › Other apps › Let other apps and agents use Slyve is on.
  • After New private key, every assistant must be set up again: copy the setup once more.
  • If it cannot reach a project, open the project in the editor, or turn on All projects.

Updates

Slyve checks for updates every hour. When one is ready, Update ready · Restart appears in the title bar. It waits until a recording or export has finished. You can also check in Settings › General › Updates.

A window is off screen

If a Slyve window went missing, for example after you unplugged a display, choose Window › Restore window positions. Windows that are mostly off the current display move back onto it. Windows that are already on it stay where they are.

Report a bug

Open Help & feedback from the ? in the toolbar, the Help menu or the menu-bar item, and choose Report a bug. You see the whole report before it is sent, and you can attach a recording of the problem.
