The cursor
Make the pointer bigger, smoother and easier to follow, with click effects and sounds.
Slyve records where your pointer went, so you can change how it looks after you record. Open the Cursor tab (⌘2).
Look
- Cursor style: System, Rounded or Touch.
- Size: make the pointer bigger so it reads on a small screen.
Movement
- Hide cursor takes it out of the video altogether.
- To hide it for part of the video, use the Cursor lane on the timeline (add it with + Lane). Drag on the lane to hide the cursor over that stretch, or press H to hide it for 2 seconds at the playhead. The cursor fades out over 150 ms before the range and back in over 150 ms after it (it cuts with Reduce Motion on). Drag a range’s ends to change it. Right-click it for Remove or Hide to the end. Click effects and keys still show. A range wins over hiding when idle or while typing. Each change is one undo.
The rest are under More at the foot of the Cursor card (smoothing is under More in the Motion tab):
- Smooth the cursor path turns shaky paths into calm, even ones.
- Smooth out cursor jitter takes out small jitters.
- Hide the cursor when idle hides a pointer that has stopped moving for a while.
- Hide the cursor while typing keeps it out of the way while you type.
Clicks
- Click effect: Ring, Ripple, Pulse, Halo, Dot or Off.
- Click sound: a soft sound on each click, with its own volume. Pick Off for none.
Click effects and click labels need the Accessibility permission while you record. See Permissions.
Phone taps
An iPhone recording over USB, or a movie you import, has no pointer: iOS does not record where your finger went. You can show it by hand. In the Cursor tab, under Phone taps:
- Add tap or Add swipe places one at the playhead, in the middle of the picture.
- Pick a tap in the list to change it: Tap or Swipe, Move to playhead, Duration, where it lands (Across, Down) and, for a swipe, where it ends.
- Remove tap deletes it. Every change can be undone.
Each tap is marked Authored, so it is never mistaken for a recorded click. Taps stay on the same moment of the recording when you trim or change its speed, and they look the same in the preview and the export. They use the Click effect you chose, or a ring while it is off.
