Slyve Studio Beta

Permissions Slyve needs

Screen Recording is required. Accessibility, Microphone and Camera turn on more features.

macOS asks you before an app can see your screen, hear your microphone or use your camera. Slyve asks for each one during the first run. You can change any of them later in System Settings › Privacy & Security.

Screen Recording (required)

Slyve cannot record or take screenshots without it.

  1. Choose Allow when Slyve asks, or open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen & System Audio Recording.
  2. Turn on Slyve Studio in the list. If it is not there, press + and choose Slyve Studio from Applications.
  3. Choose Restart app. macOS only applies this permission after Slyve restarts.

Accessibility (optional)

Accessibility lets Slyve follow your clicks and the keys you press. Without it a take still records, but it has no automatic zooms on your clicks, no keys and no click labels.

Turn on Slyve Studio under Privacy & Security › Accessibility. Press + if it is not in the list.

Microphone (optional)

Needed to record your voice. Camera and microphone start on for new recordings, but you can skip either permission during setup. In the recorder, choose Allow microphone to answer the macOS question or open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone after a refusal.

You can still press Start without microphone permission. The screen records and Slyve reports that the microphone was skipped; your on/off choice is kept for the next take.

Camera (optional)

Needed to show you alongside your screen and preview your framing before Start. Choose Allow camera in the recorder to answer the macOS question or open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Camera after a refusal.

You can still press Start without camera permission. The screen records and Slyve reports that the camera was skipped; your on/off choice is kept for the next take. Screenshots never start the camera or microphone.

If the question never appears

macOS sometimes puts its question behind other windows. Look behind them and choose Allow. If nothing appears, quit Slyve and open it again from Finder.
