Keys on video
Show the shortcuts and keys you pressed as badges on the video.
Slyve records the keys you press, so viewers can see the shortcuts you use.
Show keys
- Open the Keys tab (⌘6) and turn on Show keyboard shortcuts.
- Or press ⌥⇧K to show or hide keys on the open project’s video.
Choose a keycap style and Show › All keys or Shortcuts only. Shortcuts size sets how big the badges are. The keys also show on the Keys lane of the timeline.
To hide one shortcut everywhere it appears, right-click its badge on the Keys lane and choose Disable all occurrences of this shortcut. This hides only that exact key combination: ⌘C is hidden but C is not. ⌘Z brings the badges back.
Turn keys on for new recordings
Turn on Keys in the capture bar before you record. See Record your screen.
Draw during a recording
Use the pen toolbar while recording to draw on screen. Strokes fade as you go and are saved with the take for the video timeline.
Why are no keys showing?
- Keys need the Accessibility permission. See Permissions.
- Some apps turn on secure keyboard entry, which hides your keys from every other app. Terminal, iTerm and password managers often do this. The recorder tells you which app it was.
- Nothing typed into a password field is ever recorded.
